Me in 10 Years ("we", "us") lets you record a video message for your future self, which we store and deliver back to you by email after 10 years. This page explains what we collect, why, and how it's handled.

What we collect

When you use the site, we collect:

Your video message, and its file size and format
Your name, postal address, phone number, and email address
An optional backup contact's name, email, and phone number, in case we can't reach you when it's time to deliver your video
Payment confirmation details from Stripe (see "Payment" below) — we never see or store your card number

Why we collect it

Your name and contact details: so we know who the video is for, and how to reach you (or your backup contact) in 10 years
Your postal address: kept on file as an additional way to locate you if your email address is no longer active by the time delivery is due
Your video: to store and deliver back to you unchanged
Payment details: to charge the one-time fee for this service and send you a receipt

Payment

Payments are handled entirely by Stripe. When you enter your card details, they go directly to Stripe — this site never receives or stores your card number. We only keep a record that payment succeeded, the amount charged, and Stripe's own reference ID for that payment, so we can look up a transaction if you contact us about it.

Where your data is stored

Your video is stored with Backblaze, a cloud storage provider
Your name, address, contact details, and payment records are stored in our database
Emails (your payment receipt, and your video's delivery email in 10 years) are sent through Resend, an email delivery service
The site itself is served through Cloudflare, which provides security and performance for the site and can see standard web traffic information (like your IP address) as part of that

How long we keep it

If you start uploading a video but never complete payment, we delete the video and any details you entered after 7 days.

If you complete payment, we keep your video and details for the 10-year period until your video is delivered by email. If you'd like your data deleted sooner, or after delivery, contact us and we'll act on that request.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

Tell you what information we hold about you
Correct any details that are wrong (e.g. if you move address)
Delete your submission and video, subject to us confirming your identity

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
